Gantheaume Point, Broome - Western Australia
Gantheaume Point is a promontory about 6 kilometres from Broome, Western Australia. It was named on 24 July 1801 for Honor Joseph Antoine Ganteaume, by Nicolas Baudin during the Baudin expedition to Australia: this was a French expedition to map the coast of Australia, then known as New Holland.
The Kimberley is Western Australia's sparsely settled northern region. It's known for large swaths of wilderness defined by rugged ranges, dramatic gorges, semi-arid savanna and a largely isolated coastline.
