San Fransisco

It's been an amazing couple of days here in San Fran. I'm totally exhausted, living each day like it was our last. This is the way to get the most out of our time here, but it aint relaxing.

We arrived at the hotel just before midnight and struggled to adjust to our new time-zone. Up early next morning and after a quick orientation round Fishermans wharf we were hiring bikes and heading off to cross the Golden Gate bridge. Getting to the bridge was a pleasant water side cruise just having to negotiate a few small hills and an army of Sunday morning pedestrians. The cycle traffic was non stop and the dedicated bridge lane to bikes was definitely needed as it was like a continual cycle super highway from serious lycra pelotons to grandma on her super charged battery cruiser.

After the bridge it was a relatively easy roll into Sausalito for a picnic lunch then a ferry cruise back across the bay.

The afternoon full on walking the streets and soaking up the atmosphere of Fishermans wharf and checking out Pier 39 entertainment and the barking lounging seals.

Next day was a re-run of stuffing ourselves from the very impressive smorgasbord breakfast layout. The one-minute pancake machine took another workout and I'm in ore of this magnificent machine :)

Alcatraz took up our morning and an amazing insight into prison life on the 'Rock'. In the afternoon we walked through the amazing china town and spent an hour or so topping up our culture in the SF museum of modern art, followed by a needed Tram ride home.
